Day trips out in Devon
Vane Hill take some day trips out in Devon
The Miniature Pony Centre
Steve Todd, Manager of Vane Hill and Senior support worker, Tina, took a group of residents across to Moretonhampstead in the heart of the scenic Dartmoor to spend the day at The Miniature Pony Centre.
The centre is not just home to miniature ponies, as the name suggests, but there are a host of animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, mice and other small cuddly ones, birds and poultry, pigs, miniature donkeys, heavy horses and much more.
The residents enjoyed meeting all the animals and taking part in the animal handling activities.
Steve Todd and support worker, Jason took a group of residents to Dawlish Warren; a small seaside resort at the mouth of the Exe Estuary, with one of the top 20 blue flag beaches, a 500 acre Nature reserve and 18 hole golf course.
The residents enjoyed an afternoon of walking along the seafront, eating ice creams and tucking into a lunch on the green.
The Torquay Big wheel
Residents went to their local town to enjoy fish and chips on the seafront and ride the big wheel; 60 metres high big wheel with 40 enclosed gondolas on Torquay’s seafront. It came straight from the London Olympic park where it was the centre of the celebrations.
Cockington Village Fayre
Residents are enjoying the day in the historical village of Cockington at the traditional old English Village Fayre.
