Campania visits Weston’s Old Town Quarry, Rowan Tree Tea Rooms…
Originally used by the local villagers, the Town Quarry was extensively working during the 19th Century to produce stone for the building of the Victorian town. There is a small permanent exhibition depicting this part of the quarry history inside the main building.
Quarrying ceased in the 1950s. During the 1980s Weston Civic Society persuaded the local authority to grant the lease on the site and it became a place to relax and enjoy the nature.
Residents got to see the Quarry history exhibition, look around the shabby chic gift shop, reserve the nature and relax and enjoy a cup of tea on their visit.
