Cooking group spices up resident’s lives…

Campania's cooking group preparing chicken kebabs

Campania care home residents start weekly cooking group…

Every week, Campania’s cooking group brings residents together around a table to cook, plan, talk and of course eat their creations.

Week 1

The group meets in their home’s dining room. Their first week residents were making chicken kebabs; preparing the meat, vegetables and mixing a marinade of sweet chilli and barbecue. Each chose their prepared ingredients to pierce together on wooden skewers. Then with the help of the chefs, Steve & Bridget, the colourful skewers were cooked in the oven and finally served with pita bread and homemade chili sauce.
The group ended up making so much, they invited everyone in the home to enjoy their cooking.

Week 2

This week (17th September) residents planned and prepared Moroccan meatballs. One of the residents joined Chef, Steve, in the kitchen to cook the meatballs and serve them with rice. Again the group made enough for all to enjoy and most noteworthy; Steve is so impressed that he is going to include the recipe in the menu.

Overall the cooking group is a great afternoon of bonding and socialising. It is really nice to see everybody helping each other and being so supportive for one another. – Chunu, Activities Coordinator
