news update from Serenita ARBD

Serenita ARBD Care Home have been busy this month, read their news update…

Survive and Thrive

The ‘survive and thrive’ learning project commenced on Friday, and was a great success. 14 residents attended and were engaged throughout; contributing verbally with their own life history experiences.
The content and pace of the session was really well structured, taking into account the challenges which the client group have.
One resident said ” It felt good to share my stories with other residents who have known me for a while, but didn’t know I was once in the R.A.F and have traveled the world.”
Another said ”it feels like something normal people do, and takes my mind off my worries”
Of all attendees, only one declined to return for next weeks session. This positive news! Well Done everyone taking part.

Help for Heroes jumble sale

Serenita put on a jumble sale with cream teas to raise money for ‘Help for Heroes’, unfortunately they had a very quiet turn out on the day, but one enthusiastic resident suggested selling the remaining donations on a local car boot sale the following day. Being inspired by his enthusiasm…that’s exactly what they did. And they raised a fantastic £47 in total!

Horse Riding along the Beach

An amazing day was enjoyed by Serenita residents when they rode horses on Brean sands. One resident in his late 60’s had never been on a horse, and couldn’t believe he had this opportunity at his age.
