Health day at Torquay Academy

Vane Hill ARBD Care Home were invited to Torquay academy to talk with 200 students. Vane Hill residents; Francis,Pip, Ali and Brian talked to the students about how alcohol has affected their lives.

Steve Todd, Manager at Vane Hill, also attended and gave a talk about Alcohol Related Brain Damage. Then the students were able to talk in smaller groups with the residents.

Other professional services were there; Rowcroft Hospice Breast Cancer awareness and nursing homes gave talks to the group.

One teacher said that she thought Vane Hill’s talk and the input from the residents was the best of the day. “Well done to those residents that took part.”

Exeter Christmas Market

Vane Hill got into the Festive spirit and visited the Exeter Christmas Market. At the heart of the city centre, the Cathedral Green was brought to life by this special seasonal Market. There were stalls offering unique, handmade and unusual gifts. The residents enjoyed browsing, buying and just feeling the Christmas buzz at the heart of the city…

Demolishing work at The Royal Clarence Hotel

The residents also visited The Royal Clarence Hotel, that was recently destroyed in a major fire, however the shell of the building has remained in place. The hotel dates back to 1769 and is said to be one of the oldest in England…
