Remembrance Parade at Torquay – ARBD Manager Attends…
ARBD Care Manager, Steve Todd attended the Remembrance Parade with the Devonshire and Dorset regiment
Steve Todd and five fellow ex-service men from the Devonshire and Dorset regiment joined together with over 500 Military personnel, war veterans and local dignitaries to remember and honour those who have died in conflicts past and present by joining the remembrance parade yesterday morning.
They all marched together from the Torquay pavilion to the War Memorial in Princess Gardens, crossing the sea front on the way, watched by crowds of hundreds.
The memorial was led by Revd Gillian Maude; Torbay Council’s chairman’s Chaplain. After the service and 2 minutes silence, the National Anthem was played by the Band of the Torbay Sea Cadet Corps, Band of Salvation Army and Bay Brass. The parade then marched back to the Pavilion.
A special lunch was laid out for Steve and the regiments, where they continued to share their stories.
Also in Torquay on Remembrance Sunday, a huge artwork was made in the Abbey sands, by the resort’s sand artist. The crowds from the parade enjoyed the view from the Princess Gardens of the stunning memorial sand art that read, “We mourn for you and we thank you.”
